Reassign an identity

There may be times when an application user isn't assigned to the proper identity. A few examples of when this might happen are listed below:

  • An application user is "unmatched" meaning an identity wasn't assigned; this can happen when an identity either doesn't exist or when a user's name within the application is different than their name within the directory source (for example, Active Directory)
  • If the user's name or email address isn't available within the application data that's imported into Permission Assist
  • A user accidentally gets assigned to the wrong identity; this scenario is rare, but may happen when a person has more than one account within Active Directory

To reassign the identity, complete the following steps:

  1. Select a user from the list of users (if you haven't already). The detail panel appears on the right side of the page.

  2. Select the Actions button (...) in the top right corner of the detail panel.

  3. Select Reassign Identity.

The Reassign Identity window opens, allowing you to reassign the application user to a different identity.

  4. Select one of the following options:

    Option Description
Always assign the selected identity to this application user This option is selected by default. Leave this option selected if you want to permanently reassign the user to the new identity.
Always leave this user unassigned Select this option if you want the user to be permanently unmatched.
  5. If you are assigning the user to a new identity, select a new identity from within the Select a new identity field.

  6. Select Save. The identity assignment is updated.
