Update an Existing Plugin

Permission Assist plugins can be updated as needed, without having to do a full Permission Assist update.

To update a plugin, complete the following steps:

Step 1 - Download the new plugin

To download the plugin, complete the following steps:

  1. Log into Permission Assist as an Administrator.

  2. Go to the System Configuration cogwheel in the top right corner of Permission Assist and select Software Updates.

  3. If you do not have automatic notifications turned on, select the Get Updates button. This will update your list to show which plugins are new and which plugins can be updated.

    NOTE: For the Get Updates button to work properly, your Permission Assist server must be able to access *.sycorr.com. If you prefer not to allow this, please contact sycorr.com/support to request a new plugin. When you receive the plugin, continue with with "Step 2 - Install the plugin in Permission Assist."

  4. Select the Plugins option (see picture below). A list of all plugins is displayed within the Installed tab selected by default.

  5. Select the Updates tab.

  6. Scroll down the list to locate the plugin you want to download.

    NOTE: Plugins are bundled by vendor. When downloading a plugin, it includes all applications associated with that vendor. Applications that have the "Updated" label next to them will be updated when the plugin is installed.

  7. Select the Download button () for the plugin. The Save As window appears.

  8. Browse to the folder in which you want to save the file, and then select Save to save the plugin.

  9. Repeat steps 5 through 7 to download as many plugins as you want to update. You can install multiple plugins at a time in the next step; continue with "Step 2 - Install the plugin in Permission Assist."

 

Step 2 - Install the plugin in Permission Assist

NOTE: During this process, Permission Assist will need to be restarted. Any user logged into Permission Assist at that time will be automatically logged out. Typically, this is process is quick and takes only a few minutes.

After downloading the plugin, install the plugin using these steps:

  1. Log into Permission Assist as an Administrator.

  2. Go to the System Configuration cogwheel in the top right corner of Permission Assist and select Software Updates.

  3. Select the Plugins option. The list of plugins is displayed.

  4. Select the Install Plugins button () in the upper right corner of the plugins list (see picture below). The Install New Plugins window is displayed.

  5. Select the Browse button.

  6. Browse to where you downloaded the plugin(s), and then select the plugin(s) you want to install.

    TIP: You can install multiple plugins at a time, so select as many plugins as you want.

  7. Select the Open button. The list of plugins to be installed is displayed.

  8. Select Submit button. The plugins are installed, Permission Assist is restarted, and the login page is displayed. Log into Permission Assist as usual. Continue with Step 3 - Verify the results.

 

Step 3 - Verify the results

If there have been significant changes to an existing plugin, we recommend doing some verification so you feel confident in the new results. To verify results, refer to the Verify Import Data section for more information.
