Applications

Imports

Scheduled Imports Tab

This area allows you to identify specific local server and network paths that Permission Assist can access to automatically import application data. This area must be set up properly in order to schedule automatic imports. There are two available file path options (see descriptions below).

To prevent users from accessing information they should not be able to access, we recommend creating very specific paths that are strictly used for import files.

Example: \\server\volume\directory\PermissionAssist-ImportData

Watcher Alerts

Option

Description

Send email alerts after ___ scheduled imports consecutively fail.

This field allows you to define the number of application imports that need to fail before Permission Assist sends an email notification to application watchers.

Anyone who has signed up for application alerts will receive the notification.

File Path Access

Option

Description

Allow Permission Assist to access Universal Naming Convention (UNC) paths

This option is often recommended if application owners or others within your organization will be generating the reports for the security team because the report can be generated and saved to a networked location, allowing Permission Assist to automatically pull it directly from that networked location.

If you'd like Permission Assist to import application data by pulling the application files from a network location, complete the following steps:

  1. Select the Allow Permission Assist to access Universal Naming Convention (UNC) paths option.

  2. In the "Allowed UNC Paths" box, enter the UNC path(s) you will allow Permission Assist to access. If you are allowing access to multiple paths, enter each path on a new line.

  3. Select the Save button at the bottom of the page.

  4. Within the application, schedule automatic imports.

Allow Permission Assist to access Local File System (LFS) paths

If you'd rather have Permission Assist pull import files from a local path on the server rather than from a networked location, select this option. To use this option, complete the following steps:

  1. Select the Allow Permission Assist to access Local File System (LFS) paths option.

  2. In the "Allowed LFS Paths" box, enter the LFS path(s) you will allow Permission Assist to access. If you are allowing access to multiple paths, enter each path on a new line.

  3. Select the Save button at the bottom of the page.

  4. Within the application, schedule automatic imports.

Retention Tab

Option

Description

Remove all previously failed import attempts when an application imports successfully

This option allows you to hide failed imports from the Imports tab within the Application. When this option is selected, failed imports will no longer be displayed after a successful import is completed.

After selecting this option, don't forget to select the Save button at the bottom of the window to apply the change.
